Colour changes how a room looks. Texture changes how a room feels.
Texture is a quietly powerful tool. Layer it well and a space comes alive.
This year we have watched the brief shift with less requests for a statement colour, more requests for depth, grain and shadow. Textured wallpaper brings warmth and sophistication to a commercial interior without shouting, and they do something colour cannot.
Why designers are choosing texture over colour
Colour dates. A palette that felt current five years ago feels tired by the time a hotel reaches its second refurbishment cycle.
Texture earns its place in commercial environments for practical reasons. A textured wall diffuses light instead of bouncing it, which softens a hard-edged office fit-out. In a high-traffic corridor or a lobby, texture disguises the scuffs and marks that show up on a flat surface within months of handover.
Texture starts at the Substrate:
Most wallpapers print an image of texture onto a flat surface. You see the grain, but your hand tells you the truth when you touch the wall.
We print onto substrates that already carry their own surface. As an authorised member of the DreamScape Print Provider Network, we work with textured vinyl media chosen for commercial interiors:
Woven substrates:
-
GRASSCLOTH for deep textured embossing, long horizontal lines and the irregularity of a hand-woven fibre
-
CANVAS for a heavy depth texture with the rough, fabric-like surface of a woven canvas
-
SUEDE for a medium depth texture with the nap of suede fabric
-
SILK for a variable gloss finish and silk textured embossing that reads as real fabric
Non-woven substrates:
-
ARTIST CANVAS for an elegant medium texture with a low gloss finish
-
MATTE for a very light texture and smooth surface with a slight tooth
-
SATARA STEEL and SATARA PEARL for an embossed surface with a proprietary pearl coating, giving a subdued and luxurious sheen
Where textured wallpaper does the heavy lifting:
Architectural Finishes
Our Architectural Finishes collection explores the beauty of surface craftsmanship, celebrating the tactile qualities of concrete, plaster, wood and other hand-worked materials. Crushed, Formed and French Wash each carry a material process onto the wall, available across neutrals, greys, browns and metallic colourways.
Grasscloth wallpaper
Natural fibre texture remains the fastest way to warm a space. Grasscloth in a hotel corridor or a boardroom brings an organic irregularity that a flat print cannot fake, and printing a design over that embossing gives you pattern and texture in the same drop.
Wide-width murals
Our MURALS collections print as complete wide-width panels on textured stock and join seamlessly, so a feature wall reads as one continuous surface rather than a series of drops.
Texture without the supply risk:
Imported grasscloth often runs out mid-project. A design gets discontinued between stages, and level four no longer matches level three.
We print in Rozelle, on demand, by the lineal metre. Nothing we produce goes out of range, so a texture you specify at concept is still available when the client extends the scope.
