RETRO COLOURFUL & BOLD CUSTOM WALLPAPERS
The original brief called for retro 70’s patterns, taking design cues from the days of disco and 70’s glamour. Each of the 123 rooms infuses a retro-plush theme, with accents of chrome and colour. The wallpapers the main feature, injecting energy through custom bold graphic wallpapers that jump off the walls.
Pattern, colour and scale were at the forefront of the design process. Working closely with Luchetti Krelle, Hillmorr’s sales and in-house design team created & customised designs to suit the brief. Numerous design options were presented as a digital PDF book for consideration. From the forty designs put forward, Hillmorr’s in-house design team refined the patterns to the scheme’s colour palette as well as producing samples in both a large and small scale for consideration. Samples were produced on varying substrates including Hillmorr’s Alloy, Fine Linen and Stipple to offer different textures. STIPPLE was the final substrate that was chosen and from this design and development process, ten custom designs were chosen for final production. Stipple’s non-lineal substrate was perfect, allowing for the colour to ‘pop’!
Once each of the 123 room’s wall sizes and quantity were finalised, Hillmorr’s production team created shop drawings for client sign off and produced wallpaper drops specific to each room. All drops were labelled for ease of installation on site. Working closely with the wallpaper installer on-site, it was requested that the wallpaper be manufactured in horizontal drops not vertical as industry standard. Hillmorr accommodated their request, as this produced fewer joins and allowed for the graphics to be pattern matched on site more accurately.
Colour consistency was paramount, and like all projects, we check against samples and batches to ensure consistent colour reproduction. Further more, drops that needed replacing due to being damaged on-site were replaced months later that matched perfectly.
